I need hands, ears and nose to do my work as a mother - Blind Woman

Smangele Dhladhla, a blind woman from Diepkloof, Soweto, South Africa, who has a one-year-old baby girl, disclosed in an interview that she doesn’t need eyes to take care of her baby.
Smangele who performed her daughter’s (Katekani) christening, made it known that the first day she visited the clinic to confirm her pregnancy, she was questioned to find out if she was raped.
She said that she is not stupid, despite the fact that she is blind. She needs her hands, ears and nose to perform her role as a mother. She also stressed that she has feelings as a human and have a boyfriend who is equally blind.

Smangele  is a goalball player for the Western Gauteng team in Roodepoort, a game designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. She started playing as a reserve three years ago. In the goalball game, the players compete in teams of three and try to throw a ball that has bells embedded in it into the opponents’ goal. The ball is thrown by hand and never kicked.
She said that she didn’t take the game seriously at first, but then she went for trials where they were looking for players to represent South Africa at the Paraplegic Games. The coach noticed her playing skills despite not being selected.
She is now the captain of the team and she plays centre.
